Two women from two generations and different worlds fight alone among farmers in the Oberpfalz for the continued existence of the family farm.
The host and farmer BERTA (83) has barely left the Weiler Steinlohe, only a few hundred meters from the Czech border.
Day in and day out, the “weighty landlady” stood in the kitchen of her tavern, where she has already fried thousands of schnitzel for her guests. A life marked by hard work that nobody really wants to lead like that today. She had to accompany all of her husbands - husband, two sons and grandson - on the last way "into the pit". The indebted farm threatens the end.
Suddenly her granddaughter MONIKA (33) is at the door and decides, despite high school graduation, years abroad and successful studies, to leave her modern life in Berlin behind in order to maintain the family property. They give themselves a year for this experiment.
